Welcome reception

On Sunday, 21st August 2005, at 6.00 pm, we are all invited to the ancient City Hall by the Mayor of Krakow for a short introduction to the history of the Royal City of Krakow and a glass of wine. The City Hall is next door (1 minute's walk) to Larische Palace.

Visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mine and Symposium dinner

We shall visit the legendary Wieliczka Salt Mine on Friday afternoon, 26th August, on the way to the Symposium dinner in a nice location nearby. There will be a 2-3 hour walk into the mine along a sequence of 20 chambers carved in salt along an underground gallery, the walk ending in a museum showing the history of salt mining. The underground hike should make you ready for the Symposium dinner in 'Folwark Zalesie' (http://www.folwarkzalesie.pl/onas_eng.html), a picturesque place merely half-an-hour drive from Wieliczka, where the host will await us at the entrance with bread and salt. More nutritious dishes from a fine traditional cuisine will follow, assisted by some folk music and dances. We advise you to take warm, casual clothing which you will find comfortable during the walk in the mine (it can be as cold as 10o C) as well as during the dinner outdoors (predicted air temperature is between 15 and 30o C).
