SEFS - Symposia for European Freshwater Sciences

SEFS is not an organisation. It is Europe's largest forum for freshwater science, which brings together scientists from numerous aquatic disciplines. Symposia are held every two years, in a different European city on each occasion. The series is coordinated by the Freshwater Biological Association (FBA) in collaboration with other limnological Associations of European countries.

European PAST meetings:

SEFS1, the First Symposium for European Freshwater Sciences took place in Antwerp (Belgium) 22-28 August 1999 and was attended by c. 200 participants.
SEFS2, the Second Symposium for European Freshwater Sciences was held in Toulouse (France) 8-12 July 2001 and attracted over 350 delegates.
SEFS3, the Third Symposium for European Freshwater Sciences was held in the historical city of Edinburgh (Scotland) 3-18 July 2003 and was attended by c. 370 participants.

The PRESENT meeting:

SEFS4, the Fourth Symposium for European Freshwater Sciences is held on the campus of Jagiellonian University in Krakow (Poland) 22-26 August in 2005.
